Electric Company Ordered to Give Record Award After Firing Employee During Cancer Recovery

Charles Wideman was awarded a record $846,000 by a state civil rights agency after being fired from a Wisconsin based electrical supply company. Wideman was let go while he was battling cancer because his employer felt he wasn’t putting in enough travel time to meet customers. The large award included past lost pay, as well as Wideman's future average annual compensation of $106,000 until 2015–which was the year he planned to retire.
